Home Ownership
The Wisconsin Native Loan Fund, Inc. (WINLF) is a certified Native American CDFI located in Lac du Flambeau. WINLF is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that works to better their community by providing affordable lending to Native Americans.
Through the use of generous donations, WINLF is a revolving loan fund that supports the renovations of distressed homes for people in need. WINLF also provides down-payment assistance and debt consolidation loans.
WINLF was able to provide a Native family with a debt consolidation loan to refinance their automobile loan. The family was paying 41% interest on their loan from a high-interest local finance company. Through a loan from WINLF, they paid off the vehicle and now pay a 7.75% interest rate.
This dramatic savings paved the way to a lower debt-to-income ratio, which qualified the family to purchase their first home through the HUD 184 loan program. The Wisconsin Native Loan Fund was also able to provide them with a down payment assistance loan to qualify for the HUD Loan.
